Marion County Jail inmate found unresponsive

He was unresponsive at 8:20 a.m. and was pronounced dead shortly after at 8:51 a.m.

INDIANAPOLIS — A 60-year-old Marion County CoreCivic/Jail 2 inmate was found unresponsive Wednesday morning. 

According to officials, Ronald Owens was experiencing a medical emergency and was being prepared to be transported to Eskenazi Hospital when he became unresponsive.

He was unresponsive at 8:20 a.m. and was pronounced dead shortly after at 8:51 a.m.

The Marion County Coroner’s Office will conduct an autopsy to determine the exact cause of death. The incident is under investigation. 

Owens has been in custody since May 25, 2020. 

He was being held on charges of Stalking (a Level 5 Felony), Intimidation (a Level 6 Felony), Domestic Battery (an A Misdemeanor), Battery Resulting in Bodily Injury (an A Misdemeanor), and four counts of Invasion of Privacy (an A Misdemeanor).
