Indianapolis firefighters responded to a report of a fire at an apartment complex in the 5200 block of Michigan Road on April 2, 2024.

According to IFD, a large number of the residents are seniors and many have mobility issues. Firefighters were able to quickly get the fire out so some people could stay in their apartments, instead of evacuating.

IFD said this is the second death in a fire in the area this year.
