There has been a full-fledged storm assault on parts of Texas, Oklahoma and Arkansas. All of that activity is moving into the Midwest.

It's possible that leftover showers from these storms could impact central Indiana later today. It's likely we'll be covered by cloud cover much of Tuesday until later in the day.

Cooler overnight with lows dropping into the 40s this morning before late-day sun pushes temperatures into the mid/upper 60s.

A better shot at heavier rain and storms arrives late tonight into Wednesday morning. Some of these storms could produce locally severe wind before weakening by midday Wednesday. Warm, muggy air returns Wednesday afternoon and stays into Race Weekend. There is a marginal risk for severe weather late today into tonight west of Indy.

This sets the stage for a string of days with highs in the 80s, heat indices near/just above 90°, and possibility of some thunderstorms, especially during peak-heating hours. It will be in the 60s and 70s Thursday as Sunrise and the "Today Show" go LIVE from the Indianapolis Motor Speedway. Tom Hanks and a concert from Sheryl Crow highlight the big morning.

Right now we're forecasting mid-80s for Carb Day, the IPL 500 Festival Parade, and 103rd Running of the Indianapolis 500. Each day includes a 30% chance of storms, but subject to change to higher or lower odds as we get closer to the weekend.
