Forecast updated at Apr 24th, 2019 - 11:14am (EDT)

An area of sprinkles and light rain over west-central Indiana tracks along the I-70 corridor and falls over the Indy metro area between now and early this afternoon. While the rain may not be terribly heavy, it likely is persistent for several hours and enough to impact IndyCar practice at IMS... slated to go from 11 AM - 6 PM.

This is the beginning of several waves of rain and thunderstorms between now and Thursday evening. That doesn't mean it's raining non-stop during that time, but it's definitely going to be unsettled the next 36 hours.

Rain will be heavy at times and areas of 1" to locally 3" rainfall are expected before drier conditions emerge Friday. Friday looks to begin cloudy with possibly showers lingering before 8 AM. A brightening sky develops in the wake of a cold front to set the stage for a fantastic Friday afternoon with highs in the 60s.

We're still on target to a pleasantly cool, dry, and sunny start to Saturday before the next rain-maker arrives later Saturday. This delivers a period of wind-whipped Saturday afternoon into predawn Sunday.

Breezy conditions linger Sunday to provide a brisk feel to highs near 60. Another unsettled stretch awaits us next week with multiple waves of low pressure moving across the Ohio Valley with rain and storms - Sean Ash
