Anna Carrera

Eyewitness News Reporter

Anna Carrera joined the Eyewitness News team in April 2017. She’s originally from central Ohio, but is excited to call central Indiana home!

After graduating from Brigham Young University with two degrees (broadcast journalism and theatrical lighting design), she threw everything she owned into her car and drove to Wausau, Wisconsin. She started her journalism career there by covering a wide range of stories, from a heated gubernatorial race and the efforts to recall Scott Walker to a bear breaking into someone’s home and stealing a bag of birdseed (seriously!). Wausau was also where she tried her first bison burger, learned to ski, shoveled tons of snow and was honored with Wisconsin Broadcasters Association awards for her spot news and feature reporting.

Then she spent the last few years reporting and anchoring a couple hours west in Champaign, Illinois. She covered several investigations of misconduct at the University of Illinois, put together an exclusive story about a local police department’s use of body cameras while they responded to a deadly standoff and did a series at NASA in Houston when UI alum Mike Hopkins was aboard the International Space Station. She also did cooking segments and other special reports for the station’s lifestyle show.

When she’s not at work, you’ll probably find her running around the streets of Indianapolis, training for another triathlon. She’s already done two and would love to add some more to her list. She’s also an avid baker and enjoys experimenting with different recipes. She likes sports and is happy to cheer for Indiana teams, but her true allegiance lies with The Ohio State University Buckeyes in her hometown.
