WTHR Channel 13 is the leading news source in Indianapolis Indiana. We produce six hours of local news a day as well as several remote productions throughout the year. WTHR has a dedicated staff that is driven to produce fastpaced, compelling content for digital platforms and over-the-air broadcasts.

WTHR is seeking a part-time Production Assistant to join our Production Department. Production Assistants (PAs) are primarily responsible for running teleprompter, studio and set maintenance, floor directing, lighting, editing, and audio. They also play an important role in the execution of our remote productions. As a PA, you will benefit from exposure and training on advanced control room operations including graphics production, coding for our automated OverDrive system and directing NBC news cut-ins.

Qualified candidates should have the following:

  • Minimum of one year of broadcast news experience;
  • A bachelor’s degree in telecommunications, communications or related discipline is preferred though broadcast production experience may be substituted;
  • Proven ability to solve problems quickly;
  • Strong communications skills;
  • Able and willing to be flexible both in shift and assignment as shifts may include holidays, early mornings and weekends; and
  • Experience with ENPS, Ross and OverDrive automation, and non-linear editing is a plus.


WTHR is looking for a highly-motivated social media manager to create and manage the station's social media strategy. We are looking for a creative, experienced leader who will execute storytelling with social text, photos and video to drive engagement and content consumption. We need a leader and coach who can champion social media with the newsroom and work with our award-winning journalists to improve their social presence. The ideal candidate is aggressive, nimble and must possess excellent editing, writing and influencing skills. Experience working with video is preferred. The social media manager will advise station management with social metrics and data, maintain an editorial calendar and will be responsible for harvesting story content and ideas from WTHR's social platforms.


  • Bachelor’s degree in journalism, public relations, communications, or a related field;
  • Minimum 2 years of experience as an editor, writer or producer at a major news organization or blog that creates content under tight deadlines;
  • Expert social media user on social platforms including Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, Snapchat and other emerging platforms;

WTHR, the #1 NBC station in Indianapolis is searching for a Multimedia Journalist in our reporting ranks. Your responsibilities as a general assignment MMJ will include reporting, shooting, writing and editing news stories in an enterprise-based newsroom. Daily expectations include producing and posting content for our many digital platforms and developing a “social voice” among your followers. We are looking for someone who’s a self-starter and isn’t afraid to head out into the field to break big stories and ask tough questions. We put an emphasis on storytelling, both visually and in the writing and we expect strong packages and live shot execution every day. You’ll also be required to develop and maintain good contacts and sources in the community. Strong news and editorial judgment are requirements in our deadline-driven environment. Good communication skills on-air and behind the scenes are a must! While you would primarily work independently, there will be occasions for pairing up with a photojournalist when on significant breaking news and where stories require live shots. This is not an entry level position – we require a minimum of 4-years of MMJ experience, along with a degree in journalism, communications or a related field. Our candidate must have the ability to work flexible hours. Position requires driving so qualified candidates must possess a valid driver's license and have an acceptable driving record.


WTHR, the top rated NBC affiliate in Indianapolis, Indiana is looking for a digital content producer to join our digital desk team. The Digital Desk Editor is responsible for discovering, researching, creating, and distributing digital content for all platforms. We need a team-player who knows AP style and copyediting but also has a strong grasp on technical matters like troubleshooting computers and writing basic HTML and CSS. In addition to digital content creation, this position will also be working extensively with social media and will be challenged to write in a social-friendly voice to create engagement with WTHR content. The right candidate will also be trained to handle some technical tasks like tuning in live shots and ingesting video into our asset management system. Applicants must have a bachelors’ degree in Journalism or related field and previous experience writing for the web. Applicants will be expected to turn in a portfolio of previous digital news writing work upon request.


WTHR, the top rated NBC affiliate in Indianapolis, Indiana is looking for a highly engaged and experienced Digital Executive Producer. The position supervises the team creating content for websites, mobile apps, social media, and other platforms and channels. The Digital Executive Producer must be a team player who will work with the other WTHR news managers to coordinate the daily digital news operation. The ideal candidate has management experience setting digital expectations for a team and holding personnel accountable for their goals. The Digital Executive Producer must be innovative and be able to evolve with the changing digital landscape. Candidates must be able to grow and engage the WTHR digital audience across all platforms by developing and executing new ideas and strategies. The ideal candidate should be a self-starter with a strong journalism background and experience with AP style writing; brand management on Facebook, Instagram and Twitter; Photoshop; Chartbeat; Google Analytics; and Facebook Insights. Experience editing video and writing basic HTML and CSS is preferred. Applicants must have a bachelors’ degree in Journalism or related field and a minimum of 5 years previous experience writing for the web with at least 2 years of management experience. Applicants will be expected to turn in a portfolio of previous digital news writing work upon request.


WTHR-TV, the top rated NBC station in Indianapolis, is searching for a meteorologist with strong on-air delivery skills who can deliver the weather story with the science background to back you up. Candidates must have a track record of showcasing strong technical skills on-air and on our digital platforms. Duties include producing & presenting clear and concise weathercasts, producing graphics and maps that focus on the weather story, and occasionally reporting live in the field during severe or winter weather events. We have all the bells and whistles for superior forecasts. We are a multi-platform weather provider servicing the NBC station,, mobile apps, and our social media platforms. You’ll also be required to make public appearances on behalf of the station. This job is for serious meteorologists with 3-5 years of on-air weather forecasting and the passion and flexibility for being onair whenever it matters. A bachelor’s degree in meteorology is required, but the equivalent in work experience may be substituted. CBM and/or AMS seal preferred.
