INDIANAPOLIS (WTHR) - No matter who you cheer for on the court, Indianapolis basketball fans picked up a big win on social media Thursday night.

Yahoo! Sports NBA set off a firestorm of angry Hoosiers after posting a video pleading NBA Commissioner Adam Silver to move next year's NBA All-Star Game away from the Circle City.

"This is a flagrant mistake and something must be done," LaJethro Jenkins said in the video.

Jenkins pleads Silver to move the All-Star Game to somewhere warm and created a Change.org petition, which only had about 10 signatures when Yahoo deleted the video from Twitter hours later. Before erasing the tweet from history, Yahoo! did point to the part of the online petition that said the whole thing was a joke.

"The NBA couldn't care less. Relax," they wrote on Change.org.

It's not clear if the comment was posted before or after the outcry of support for Indianapolis.

The deletion came after a wave of Hoosiers sounded off defending their city, including several members of the Eyewitness News team:

Former Indianapolis Colts punter Pat McAfee also spoke up and invited Jenkins to town.

"Excited for @LaJethroJenkins to come thru and enjoy the city," McAfee tweeted.

"I’ve been twice. And ran out the city. But I’m down for you to prove me wrong," Jenkins replied.

That said, Jenkins later tweeted, "I stand on my opinion. Know that."

The next NBA All-Star game is scheduled for February 14, 2021 at Bankers Life Fieldhouse.
