INDIANAPOLIS (WTHR) — For children battling life-threatening illnesses, the fight alone can be draining.

The Make-A-Wish Foundation grants wishes and helps lifts spirits, with unique and amazing adventures.

The next 36 hours is all about continuing that mission and making it possible, thanks to radio station 99.5 WZPL.

The Smiley Morning Show is holding a radio telethon starting at 6 a.m. Thursday. For each song request, callers can donate to hear that song played. It is a tradition that dates back to 1996.

The telethon raised a little more than $700,000 in 2016.

Each wish costs around $8,000 to grant.

During the telethon, Wish Kids — those who have had a wish granted in the past — talk about the experience and thank those who have made it possible. Learn about this year's Wish Kids here.

To donate, call the 99.5 WZPL request line at (317) 228-1099, or click here.
