INDIANAPOLIS (WTHR) - As you get ready for Election Day, we've compiled this guide to everything you need to know before you head to the polls.

Election Day is Tuesday, Nov. 8.

Remember to take your photo ID with you to your polling place. Your photo ID must:

  1. Display your photo.
  2. Display your name, matching your name on your voter registration. It doesn't have to be identical to your registration, though. For example, if your registration is under "Robert John Crew," a photo ID that just says "Robert Crew" is acceptable.
  3. Display an expiration date. It must either not be expired or have expired after November 4, 2014 (the date of the last general election).
  4. Be issued by the state of Indiana or the U.S. government.

There are some exemptions allowed to the photo ID law.

If you do not have a valid photo ID, state law requires the BMV to provide one to you free of charge. The BMV is extending their hours on Monday, Nov. 7 and Election Day Tuesday, Nov. 8 to help facilitate anyone who needs a last-minute ID. Click here to find the branch nearest you.
