Woman stabbed near downtown, suspect detained

INDIANAPOLIS (WTHR) - Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department detectives are investigating a stabbing on the west side of downtown Monday morning that left a woman seriously injured.

It all started around 5 a.m. when a woman got out of a vehicle at Michigan Street and North White River Parkway and a passerby saw that she was bleeding and called 911. The vehicle that she got out of fled from the scene. The woman was transported to Eskenazi Hospital with multiple stab wounds to her upper body.

The car was stopped downtown near the main Post Office and the man inside the car was detained. The man was taken to Eskenazi Hospital to be checked out.
