INDIANAPOLIS (WTHR) – Indianapolis police are looking for a man who shot a woman Friday night in Broad Ripple.

It happened near 63rd and Carrollton Streets.

Officers say they received multiple calls of shots fired. When they arrived in the area they found the woman shot inside a truck.

“She was transported to a local area hospital where she remains in critical condition at this time,” said IMPD Sergeant Jim Gillespie at the scene.

Detectives say at least one other car was involved in the incident, although it’s unclear if the shooter was inside that vehicle.

Police say this is not a case of road rage.

“We don’t believe it to be a random act, so it does appear the players knew each other in some way,” said Gillespie.

Witnesses said they saw a man running from the scene shortly after the shots were fired.

Officers did take several people away for questioning, but no one is in custody at this time.
