Whole Foods Market handing out free food leading up to downtown opening

Whole Foods Market is giving out baskets this week with ingredients for salsa, plus gift cards.

INDIANAPOLIS (WTHR) - The new Whole Foods Market may not open downtown for another week, but you can win some free food starting today.

The market will hold the grand opening of its store at 320 E. Market Street March 21. But they'll have the Whole Foods Market van on the streets through the rest of this week looking for winners.

Crews will be at various hot spots throughout Indianapolis handing out free salsa kits, including tomatoes, onions, and cilantro. Each kit also comes with a gift card, the value of which is a mystery.

One lucky person will win free groceries for a year.

You can track the van by following the Whole Foods Indiana Instagram account.

More prizes will be given out next week. The first 500 customers through the door after the 9 a.m. grand opening next Wednesday will get a gift card ranging between $5 and $50, with one lucky customer receiving a $500 gift card.
