Live Doppler 13 weather blog: 5 More Hours of Steady/Heavy Snow

The threat for snow will linger through midnight. Blowing and drifting snow will also be a big problem with this winter storm.

INDIANAPOLIS — Snowfall potential is 7-10 inches for most of central Indiana.  There will be few places with a foot or more.  Just before 7pm, we are starting to get a few totals...4" across Hamilton and Madison counties, 5" in Homecroft, 5.5" from Chuck in Avon and 6-7 inches near Greenwood.    Please stay weather aware tonight and tomorrow. Snow plows will  have trouble keeping up with the snow and roads will be snow covered and slick all night into Tuesday.  With winds NNE 15-25mph, blowing and drifting snow will be a big issue too.  Watch those east/west roads.  We are forecasting the steady/heavy snow to continue to fall through about midnight.  Some may see an inch an hour and that is the reason for the double digit snow totals.

On top of all of this, it is cold.  Temperatures will be in the single digits Tuesday morning and highs will only be in the teens on Tuesday.  This means the snow isn't going anywhere.  Be prepared for snow covered and slick roads through Tuesday and allow extra travel time.
