INDIANAPOLIS — Sunday was the hottest day in Indy in over a year, with high temperatures peaking in the mid-90s.
This was the third straight, and fourth out of the past five, 90°+ day in Indianapolis and Monday becomes the fourth straight. It appears this streak continues until Saturday.
In addition to the afternoon pop-storm potential, daily high temperatures in the mid-90s team-up with muggy air to produce heat indices near 100° at times.
Air quality remains unhealthy for sensitive due to stagnant conditions upping the particulates near the surface. It's best to avoid outdoors if you have a sensitive respiratory system.
Storm odds will remain 20-30 percent until Friday when it appears greater coverage occurs with an approaching. This boundary should drop high temperatures into the 80s next weekend as the heat eases somewhat.
But it appears this "break" from 90s will be short in nature with the likelihood of a rebuilding summer ridge of the Midwest likely to occur again after July 13-14.
