INDIANAPOLIS — Central Indiana is in between two weather systems: an area of low pressure and an area of high pressure. There is a tight pressure gradient today, allowing the winds to whip. Sustained winds will increase to 20-25 mph, and gusts will be 45 mph or higher.
A Wind Advisory is in effect from 10 a.m.-6 p.m. today.
The southerly wind will allow temperatures to soar into the mid 60s, nearly 15 degrees above normal. With the warm temperatures, strong winds and low humidity, there is a critical fire risk. A Red Flag Warning is in effect today too.
It is advised to not burn anything outdoors, due to the risk of a fire getting out of control.
