INDIANAPOLIS — Spring is here, and so are spring storms. It is a Weather Aware Day in Indiana, especially later this afternoon. The morning rush hours will provide some hassles getting to work or school, but we are really looking for this afternoon to be the bigger problem and that tough weather continues until midnight or 1 a.m.

The biggest problems will be heavy downpours and strong, damaging winds tonight. The Indianapolis Indians open at home tonight, but the game could be threatened by the rain and storms.

It looks like there would be a lesser threat of tornadoes and large hail. The winds could still be clocked at 50 mph as a vigorous cold front barrels through Indiana tonight.

If you have friends in Illinois, much of that state is under a more enhanced risk for severe weather and EF-2 tornadoes are possible from northwest Illinois into the areas south of St. Louis. Those storms actually fire up later this morning and this afternoon.

For Indiana Saturday, we'll see a drop in temperatures and a windy day, especially for the Indy Eleven home opener at 7 p.m.
