INDIANAPOLIS — As morning fog continues to mix out, look for a mix of sun and clouds this afternoon. Temperatures will be the coolest of the week today and slightly below average in the low to mid-70s.

As the sky clears out this evening, temperatures will plummet overnight to near 50 degrees around the Indy metro and into the 40s in outlying and more rural areas.

We're watching a frontal boundary to our west that will slide through early Tuesday. This will prompt the potential of a few stray showers, especially across the northern tier of the state between noon and 5 p.m.
Despite the additional clouds and shower chance, temperatures will still warm to the upper 70s — very seasonal for this time of year.

Temperatures will continue to warm through the week, with highs back in the low to mid-80s starting Wednesday into next weekend.
This means a mostly sunny and very warm start to the fall season, with highs in the mid-80s Saturday. The pattern remains dry through the start of the weekend as well, with the next chance of rain holding off until late next Sunday.
