INDIANAPOLIS — All week, our team has been making you weather aware for Friday. A strong storm will move over the Great Lakes Friday into Saturday.


The Storm Prediction Center has most of Indiana a slight (level 2) risk of severe weather. Portions of west and southeast Indiana is under an enhanced (level 3) risk of severe risk of severe weather.




Showers will start to move in by sunrise on Friday. An embedded storm is possible, but severe weather is not expected in the morning.




More scattered storms will be likely at times through the afternoon. Temperatures will be mild, climbing into the mid 60s.


The associated cold front will move in by evening. A line of storms will be likely along the front.




This is the line that could ramp up to be severe. All threats are on the table. Tornadoes will be possible, with higher probability in west central Indiana. Right now, the SPC has west central Indiana at a 5% chance 25 miles within a point.


Damaging winds will be more probable, with most of Indiana at a 15% chance of 58+ mph winds 25 miles within a point.


Hail is possible, but it will be less likely Friday evening.


Storms will taper off early Saturday morning. Saturday will be a blustery day, with gusts over 40 mph. A Wind Advisory will likely be issued


Saturday, temperatures will fall into the upper 30s and low 40s, holding near steady through the afternoon.
Wind chill values will be in the 20s and low 30s.
