INDIANAPOLIS — A fire early this morning on the city's near southwest side has been producing a large plume of smoke for several hours.
The wind is coming from the south-southwest and will increase into the afternoon. This will loft smoke through the atmosphere into downtown and as far north as the northern suburbs throughout Boone and Hamilton counties.
While the health department has not issued any alerts, it would be a good idea to keep your windows closed through the afternoon to prevent the smoke from entering homes or businesses. Wind gusts will increase to 30 mph through the metro during the morning and into the afternoon.
