INDIANAPOLIS — Hopefully, you had a chance to enjoy the wonderfully sunny Sunday in central Indiana with highs in the 60s. We're in store for another unsettled week here that begins with widely scattered showers Monday morning that transition to widespread rain/heavy thunderstorms Monday afternoon/evening.

There's a slight chance in southern Indiana of some of the storms becoming severe, but lightning and localized flooding will be primary threats with storms on Monday.

Storm coverage lessens by 12 a.m. Tuesday and much of Tuesday will be relatively quiet with central Indiana being on the cooler, stable side of a stalled boundary early in the day.

That boundary lifts northward in the late afternoon hours of Tuesday and keeps a low chance of any storms that develop becoming severe. But the main focal point of severe storms Tuesday will be along a dry line in the central U.S.

This eventually shifts closer to central Indiana as a very strong jet stream blasts into the Ohio Valley late Wednesday into Thursday, upping the ante for severe gusts along a quick-moving cold front Wednesday evening and possibly rotating storms on any cells that can develop in advance of this front.

In addition to severe thunderstorm potential, there will be high non-thunderstorm wind (55+ mph) gusts from a strengthening gradient wind field as low pressure intensifies rapidly over the upper Midwest. That system drives cooler air back into the Ohio Valley Thursday and for Easter weekend.

It's a week out, but modeling shows a system moving across central Indiana on Easter Sunday. If this verifies, it would make for rainy, cool conditions.

Stay tuned for updates.
