Live Doppler 13 Weather Blog: Incoming rain, warmer temps

Warmer temps are on the way this week, but we'll start with some scattered showers today.

INDIANAPOLIS — An area of low pressure is set to track right through central Indiana today bringing scattered rain showers and isolated storms possible in the afternoon.

The best chance to see rain will be between 3 and 7 p.m. Severe weather is not expected but lightning is a threat within any thunderstorm.

Skies will otherwise be mostly cloudy through the day which will limit daytime heating keeping high temperatures below average in the low 70s.

Scattered rain will taper off in the evening as the low pressure system pulls east. Skies will clear overnight with temperatures dropping into the low 50s. Skies will begin to clear Monday with a mix of sun and clouds and highs still slightly below average in the low to mid 70s.

Temperatures will continue to warm through the week with highs back in the upper 70s Tuesday and into the low to mid 80s starting Wednesday into next weekend.

With the exception of a stray shower possible mainly across the northern tier of the state late Tuesday night, the pattern remains dry through the duration of the work week.
