INDIANAPOLIS — The officials at the Indiana Department of Environmental Management have called for an Ozone Action Day today for parts of central Indiana.
This means atmospheric emissions will climb higher than the standard and could lead to breathing difficulty for those in sensitive groups such as those with asthma or COPD.
Outdoor time should be limited.
Emissions will be higher today due to weather conditions of high temperatures and low wind speeds.
Even if you don't fall into the impacted group, there are still things you can do to reduce emissions today.
- Walk, bike, or carpool instead of driving.
- Avoid drive-through lines and combine errands into one trip.
- Wait to fuel-up or mow the lawn until after 7 p.m.
- Conserve energy by turning off lights or setting the air conditioner to 75 degrees or above.
