Monday will be the icing on the cake of what will likely go down as the warmest September on record in Indianapolis.
With one day left, the average monthly temperature was 73.4° which is 6° above average for the month. With a forecast low of 68° and record high of 92°... this will finish as the warmest September on record and since 1933.
Unless a stray shower moves over the Indy airport... this month will also be the 3rd driest September for the city with under a half-inch of rain.
The warm front that triggered scattered rain and storms on Sunday will be well to the north of I-70. This opens the gate for widespread 90s Monday afternoon and the first of potentially three straight record-breaking high temperatures.
Thursday looks to be our day of transition which will still be humid but highs closer to 80°. Friday and next weekend have a true autumn feel with lows in the 40s and highs in the 60s.
