Overnight forecast activates Indy Snow Force

Indianapolis DPW will call out a full shift of 80 plow trucks to begin pre-treating roadways for potential slick spots Sunday night.

INDIANAPOLIS — In response to Sunday night's forecast calling for rain to change to snow showers throughout Monday and Tuesday, the Indianapolis Department of Public Works will call out a full shift of 80 Snow Force plow trucks to begin pre-treating roadways for potential slick spots starting at 11 p.m. Sunday.

Crews will remain activated through at least Tuesday night, treating roadways and plowing standard routes as weather warrants, according to a statement from DPW.

Supplies of de-icer "salt" material are at full capacity to start the winter season.

Indy DPW will have additional staff on standby to address any wind damage to traffic signals or downed tree limbs blocking roads.

To report issues, residents are asked to call the Mayor's Action Center at (317) 327-4622.

The Indy Snow Force Viewer will also be activated as trucks begin plowing to show where roads have been plowed or treated.

Motorists are urged to allow extra time to reach their destinations Monday morning, and to allow plenty of clearance near other vehicles, especially DPW trucks as they perform their duties.
