Good Tuesday morning Central Indiana. Hopefully you've been following our forecast updates the past 24 hours and are aware of the messy commute we're expecting this morning. If not here's the break down of what's ahead.

Morning snow in southern Indiana expands northeastward to encompass most of the region by 6-7am. Snow rates become heaviest during the hours between 6am and 12pm. This leads to quick deterioration of roadways where it is snowing and adds time to your commute.

1" to 3" is expected for a good chunk of the viewing area with locally 3"+ possible if heavier banded features develop. This may possibly occur along the I-70 corridor. An inch or less for areas in our northern viewing area including Lafayette, Kokomo, Marion. Farther south some sleet and freezing rain may mix in with the snow at times.

Snow shuts down between noon and 4pm but slick roads may continue in some areas for the evening commute. Bitterly cold lows in the 5 to 10 range are on tap tonight into Wednesday morning.

The coldest air hits Thursday morning into Friday morning. Expect dangerously cold wind chills in the -10 to -20 range with "highs" in the teens.

Another moisture-laden system hits the area Friday into Sunday with a mixed bag of snow, wintry mix, rain, and possibly ice in spots. Please check back for updates - Sean Ash
