PORTLAND, Ore. (WTHR) - Five flamingo chicks born last week at the Oregon Zoo are taking their first steps!

The zoo shared video of the fuzzy flock's wobbly explorations of their new surroundings.

The flamingos came to the zoo as eggs from the San Diego Zoo Safari Park. They're reportedly being hand-reared by a care staff at the zoo and are eating nine times a day.

Flamingos are born with pale gray feathers and eventually get their pink coloring from their diet of brine shrimp and blue-green algae.

The chicks are expected to join the adult flamingos on view to the public later this summer.
