WATCH: Demolition crew topples Kings Island's 'Firehawk' coaster

MASON, Ohio (WTHR) — A popular Kings Island roller coaster is no more.

With one final push of a crane Wednesday, the iconic vertical loop of the "Firehawk" toppled to the ground. Video of the demolition was posted to Facebook by O'Rourke Wrecking Company, the crew that brought it to the ground.

The Firehawk came to Kings Island from another Ohio amusement park in 2007. Riders were tilted back into a reclining position to travel through five inversions, including the vertical loop and two incline twists.

The demolition is part of a season of change for Kings Island, WLWT-TV in Cincinnati reports. The themed entry to the park, "International Street" is getting its first makeover since the park opened 45 years ago and a once-popular ride featuring antique cars will return to the park for the first time since 2004.
