SIDELL, La. (WTHR) — A Louisiana woman has worked at Walmart for three years and once a week she walks six miles to get there.

"Just because I don't have a vehicle is no excuse for me not to show up to work," Anita Singleton said.

Slidell Police Officer Bradley Pekc noticed Singleton walking across a narrow bridge on Monday. He asked where she was going. When he realized how far she needed to walk, he gave her a ride to work.

"He brought me all the way to the front door and that was an incredible blessing," Singleton said.

Ofc. Peck posted about the incident on Facebook.

"That brief moment of me getting to spend some time with her made my day so much better. I don't think she knows how much hope she gave me and valuable life lesson she taught me," Ofc. Peck wrote.

According to Singleton's manager, several coworkers, who did not know Singleton walked to work, have offered to give her a ride when she needs them.
