Vroom! Car auction features something for everyone


Indianapolis is the place to be this weekend if you love fast cars.

Not only can you check out IndyCars at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway, but also some classic cars at the Mecum Auction.

The auction is at the Indiana State Fairgrounds Thursday through Saturday. Gates open daily at 8 a.m. General admission is $20 a day for adults and children 12 and under are free.

The auction features consignments from at least 40 states.

"There is a car for every lover here at the Indiana State Fairgrounds this weekend," said Sam Murtaugh with Mecum Auctions. "There are over 2,000 collector cars, new and old, everything from the 40s, 50s 60s and all the way up to new. We've got four GTs from 2005 and 2006, Mustangs, race cars, muscle cars, hot rods, the whole gamut.

"This is an incredible car show. You'll see cars you'll never see. It's a once in a lifetime chance to see these beauties."
