INDIANAPOLIS (WTHR) – The Academy Volleyball Club where Noblesville school shooting victim Ella Whistler used to play, is hosting a volleyball benefit in her name.

Ella, 13, was shot seven times by a classmate who broke out in gunfire on her and teacher Jason Seaman.

Beginning July 20, 'Ella’s Invite' will include a large volleyball tournament, as well as a silent auction and the opportunity to purchase an 'Ella’s Invite' t-shirt. All proceeds will go toward her medical bills.

Five volleyball divisions will be available for the tournament, so that everyone can play, regardless of skill or experience level.

The Academy says everyone is invited "as we celebrate the strength of Ella and help raise funds for her ongoing medical bills".

Ella's Invite will run from July 20 to 22 with silent auction and t-shirt sales available online as well.

“By putting on this invite, we hope that we can bring the community together to have fun and raise money for Ella and her family," said Emily Hawthorne, Director and Owner of The Academy Volleyball Club. "Ella is part of the Academy family, and it’s the least we can do to show our support.”

Ella’s Invite is now open online to register a team, donate a silent auction item, or volunteer your time at the event.
