Vallonia man dies in Jackson County crash

SEYMOUR, Ind. (WTHR) - Indiana State Police reported the death of a Vallonia man in a Friday night crash on State Road 258, just west of Seymour.

State Police crash investigators say Lamar Anderson, 61, of Vallonia was driving a red Chevy pickup westbound on State Road 258 near the White River bridge when the truck left the north side of the road around 9:00 p.m.

The truck struck a guardrail before coming to rest facing eastbound in the westbound lane of SR 258.

Anderson's truck was then struck head-on by a westbound by a Buick SUV driven by Elizabeth Helwig, 70, of Seymour.

He died at the scene, according the Jackson County Coroner's Office.

Helwig was taken d to Schneck Medical Center in Seymour for treatment of non-life threatening injuries, according to police.

Toxicology results on both drivers are pending and the crash remains under investigation.
