USA Gymnastics releases updated Safe Sport Policy to protect its athletes

INDIANAPOLIS (WTHR) — USA Gymnastics today released an updated Safe Sport Policy, which includes mandatory reporting of misconduct.

Misconduct includes sexual, emotional or physical harm, stalking, bullying, hazing and harassment of athletes.

In addition there are provisions for failing to report, false allegations and retaliation.

The new policy also sets boundaries between athletes and staff as it relates to travel, texting, photography and more.

This summer, the governing body will hold training sessions and webinars so staff and athletes understand the guidelines.

"USA Gymnastics is committed to fostering a safe, positive and encouraging environment throughout the gymnastics community."
