Update on snow, sleet and ice forecast for Thursday

After analyzing latest guidance we've made a few adjustments to the northern and western portions of our viewing area, where less mixing and more snow seems like a safer bet.

However, no changes to timing with a snow/sleet arriving in southern Indiana by 10 PM and in the metro area around midnight. This wintry precipitation shield expands northward and encompasses all of Central Indiana by 4 AM.

This sets the stage for a dicey and icy Thursday morning commute with temperatures below freezing. At minimum plan on extra time commuting to work and school delays and/or cancellations is very possible.

Warmer aloft eventually down to the ground between 9 AM and noon... when we're expecting freezing rain to transition to a rain/snow mix along and south of I-70. This allows any icy roads to become mainly wet for the afternoon/evening commute. Precipitation rates later in the day should be mainly light but areas of dense fog may slow down driving.

Some refreezing seems likely Thursday night as lows drop into the 20s... possibly impacting the Friday morning commute. The weekend still looks mainly cloudy and there's a growing possibility of rain/snow mix on Sunday.

Chilly conditions linger into early next week but a "warming" trend into the 50s heading into Thanksgiving. This "warm" up likely comes with increasing odds of showers for Thanksgiving and Black Friday.
