Victoria Whorton and her children, whom she reportedly abducted Thursday, August 3, 2017.

WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. (WTHR) - The West Lafayette Police Department has canceled the AMBER Alert issued Friday night for a mother and her four children.

Police were told 27-year-old Victoria Dominique Whorton abducted her four children Thursday in West Lafayette. She was found in Chicago, with the children, and police say the four kids are safe.

West Lafayette Police are working with Chicago Police and Illinois State Police on the safe transfer of the Whorton and her children into the hands of Indiana State Police for their return to West Lafayette.

According to WLPD, Whorton's children were placed with a family member by Indiana's Department of Child Services.

Whorton does not face criminal charges at this point, as the issue appears to be a custodial question.
