Tyler Perry warns followers of scam claiming he's giving away cars, money

INDIANAPOLIS (WTHR) — In a minute-long video, Tyler Perry warned his Facebook followers that he isn't giving things away via social media.

The Madea star posted the video to Facebook telling his viewers to not give out personal information.

"I don't know who they, are but every day we have to get 10, 20, 30 of those things shut down on Facebook," Perry said. "I am not giving away anything."

Unofficial profiles have been created in Perry's name claiming he's giving away homes, cars and money. The profiles ask that the user share the post, according to WESH.

Perry asked his follower to share his posts debunking the giveaway claim, so others don't fall victim to it.
