SOUTHPORT, Ind. (WTHR) - Police and fire departments throughout Indiana continued to send condolences to Lt. Aaron Allen's family during his funeral Saturday.

Notes of sorrow began pouring in on social media the same day Allan died while responding to a crash on the south side - July 27 - with NYPD one of the first to post on Twitter.

Since then, an American flag featuring a Thin Blue Line/Thin Red Line and signed by fire departments and law enforcement made its way around the state gathering signatures. It will be given to Southport Police for the department or Allan's family.

Fellow officers from police departments posted tributes on social media Saturday during the funeral of Lt. Aaron Allan.

Indianapolis Metro Police Chief Bryan Roach posted a video Saturday before the funeral.
