Traffic stop leads to 6 pounds of heroin

CLOVERDALE, Ind. (WTHR) — A traffic stop in Cloverdale led to a discovery of six pounds of heroin.

An Indiana State Police trooper stopped a gold Chevrolet Equinox on I-70 around 10 a.m. Tuesday.

During a conversation with the driver, the trooper recognized suspicious behavior. That's when the trooper called for assistance with a K-9.

The K-9 was able to alert the troopers to drugs in the vehicle and found about 6.2 pounds of heroin with an estimated value of $225,000.

The driver was identified as 21-year-old Joshua Gomez of San Diego, California.

Gomez was transporting the drugs from California to Ohio.

State police arrested and transported Gomez to the Putnam County Jail for dealing and possession of heroin.
