Tony Dungy sits down with Colts coach Frank Reich ahead of Chiefs game

INDIANAPOLIS (WTHR) — Frank Reich is leading the Colts in this fairytale season. He took a team that was 1 and 5 to the playoffs.

So who better to interview the Colts coach than his former boss and Colt coaching legend Tony Dungy.

Eyewitness News got exclusive access to parts of the interview.

In it, Frank Reich begins with giving Dungy a 1-0 shirt.

"This has been our mantra this whole season and just wanted to present you with this shirt and would hope you would wear it well for us," said Reich.

Dungy noted he can't wear it on Saturday, but said he will wear it proudly.

"One percent better every day and that's what we've always talked about," said Dungy.

"It's funny. We got this start, we got in this hole of one and five we got ourselves into and it just really being a young team, forged in us this mentality of backs against the wall. Doesn't matter. We're gonna stick to fundamentals and technique, one percent better every day and one and oh and that's been the mindset ever since," Reich answered.

Dungy also asked why Reich chose to come to the Colts at a time the team and coaching was in turmoil.

"After having coached under you for a few years and the culture that you set, just the family atmosphere and then the high level of success that we had in this city and in this building. When I walked back in this building it felt like home, it really did," said Reich.

You can see that whole interview Saturday.
