SCHERERVILLE, Ind. (WTHR) - A sweet gesture by a server in northwest Indiana is getting national attention.

Wendell Davenport works at Carrabba's Italian Grill in Schererville in Lake County.

He says a family with a toddler came in for dinner earlier this month and the 3-year-old tried to cover the bill.

When the little girl handed the waiter a pretend pink credit card, Davenport decided to play along.

He drew a fake receipt for her and even put it in a check folder.

The child signed it and the family left Davenport an extra $3.00 tip... using real cash.
