INDIANAPOLIS (WTHR) - Thursday is National Savings Day.

Savings is one of the keys to achieving financial stability, but it can be tough to do without a budget and some discipline. A budget that you don't stick to doesn't count!

America Saves is an organization dedicated to getting people saving and they have three quick steps to saving success.

The first step is to set up a savings plan. People with a plan are twice as likely to meet their savings goal. Make a budget of what you're spending and where you can save.

Second pay off your high cost debt. If you have credit cards, pay more than the minimum. The cards you have the highest interest should be paid first, then your cards or other credit accounts with lower interest.

Finally, they recommend setting up automatic savings deposits. If you don't have to think about it, they say you're more likely to do it.

They also offer other strategies you should think about when deciding to save and lots of other tips for how to find money in your budget to save, which you can see here.
