WICHITA FALLS, Texas (WTHR) - A World War II veteran who put a request on Facebook to get 100 cards for his 100th birthday got much, much more than that.

Joe Cuba received more than 16,000 birthday cards from all over the world and each of the 50 states. He also received gifts, including a coffee mug, blankets, sweet treats and a bottle of whiskey.

"That's kind of different. Yeah well, I thank every one of them. They did give and that's what counts," Cuba said.

His actual birthday isn't until Saturday, March 2 and he said he may even crack open the bottle of whiskey to celebrate.
