Texas woman holding divorce garage sale

SPRING, TX (KPRC) - A Texas woman is ready to clean house and move on with her life after divorcing her husband of four years.

We know this because she posted the info in a Craigslist ad for her garage sale.

You hear about garage sales and you see 'for sale' signs but what about a divorce sale?

"So after two long years I have finally been able to divorce my worthless, cheating, abusive husband," explained Craiglist ad writer Briana Barksdale.

And that's how Briana Barksdale starts off her not so typical garage sale ad on Craigslist.

"So I'm really excited to finally be able to just let that go and get rid of some stuff," she says.

The new divorcee says she's selling everything from her ex's X-Box, to furniture and kitchen supplies,
but she says the garage sale is more of a celebration for walking away from a bad situation, "We're going to hopefully sell everything. We're going to have mimosas and doughnuts and we're going to just party and celebrate and have a good time."

The Craigslist ad has been taken down, but she says she wants to encourage others in similar situations to know that they're not alone.

Barksdale said, "Like, I've had offers from all over the country and it's just been really awesome to see like being able to move forward and that there is light at the end of this tunnel that was divorce."

NBC station KPRC did look at court documents related to Barksdale's divorce and they show that her ex-husband did plead guilty to assault and is serving seven-years probation, plus community service.

They also reached out to Briana's ex-husband and he decided not to comment for this story.
