INDIANAPOLIS (WTHR) - When the "feels like temperature" rose to 104 on Thursday, some IMPD officers were on “Popsicle Patrol” on the east side.

200 popsicles and lots of bottled water kept residents hydrated.

In a social media post, IMPD said:

"We do want to take the opportunity to remind everyone to stay cool and hydrated over the next couple of days. Central Indiana is under an “Excessive Heat Warning“ today until Sunday evening. Temperatures will reach highs in the mid- to upper 90’s with a heat index reaching 105-110. DRINK WATER, TAKE SHADE & REST BREAKS, and WEAR LIGHT & LOOSE FITTING CLOTHING. If you are feeling sick and have been in the heat for a long time, you may be suffering from heat-related illness. Call 911 if you think you are experiencing symptoms of heat related illness. Thank you officers for using part of your day to help some Indianapolis residents hydrate and have a cool treat at the same time."
