Teens rescue dogs from Columbus house fire

BARTHOLOMEW COUNTY, Ind. (WTHR) — Two dogs are safe after being rescued from a house fire in Columbus.

It's all thanks to a teen neighbor and his friend who jumped into action to help.

Eighteen-year-old Dezmon Jackson said when he saw the smoke coming from his neighbor's house, he immediately ran over and started pounding on the door.

He figured the neighbor was stuck at work. But he knew dogs were inside the home.

They kicked in the front door, found the two dogs in a bedroom and got them to safety.

No one was hurt in the rescue, but the house was severely damaged.
