Teen shot outside McDonald's on city's near north side

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. (WTHR) — A 19-year-old is in serious condition after getting shot outside a McDonald's located at 38th and Illinois Street.

IMPD says the teen was with a group of people sitting in a car when multiple shots were fired around 1:30 a.m.

The teen was sitting in the backseat when a bullet penetrated the vehicle and hit the teen.

The driver mistakenly first drove to Larue D. Carter Memorial Hospital, a rehabilitation facility on Cold Spring Road, thinking it was the nearest hospital to treat the teen before driving over to Eskenazi Hospital.

No suspect description has been released at this time.
