CHARLOTTE, N.C. (WTHR) โ€“ While customers were waiting in long lines at a Popeyes restaurant in Charlotte, a local teen decided to take advantage of the opportunity to make a change in his community.

David Ledbetter, 17, was seen standing outside the Popeyes registering people to vote.

Ledbetter himself isn't even old enough to vote, but said he wanted to push for others to get involved in local politics.

"I decided to register people to vote after I saw there was a lack of young people politically involved," Ledbetter told WCNC.

Ledbetter said he proudly registered 16 people to vote on Saturday.

โ€œI believe that it is our duty to vote as American citizens and it would be wrong not to exercise our political voice," Ledbetter said.

Popeyes has recently gained a lot of attention on social media after the fast food chains Popeyes and Chick-fil-A were pinned against each other for the title of best chicken sandwich.
