INDIANAPOLIS (WTHR) — Indy Film Fest and Downtown Indy, Inc. are once again giving Indianapolis residents an opportunity to hop in the Downtown Canal, and not Pat McAfee-style.

Sunset Cinema on the Canal is a series of movies shown on the north end of the Canal near Admiral Spruance Basin. The movies are free, but for a $20 fee, moviegoers who are at least 21 can get an innertube to float in the Canal and two beers.

The summer event kicks off Thursday with "Grease." All movies start at dusk, around 9:15 p.m.

If you're interested in taking part in the in-water experience, you'll need to register online beforehand. Otherwise, grab a blanket, chair and picnic basket to enjoy the film from the lawn.
