Student arrested for social media threat at Columbus East High School


Columbus, Ind. (WTHR) - The Columbus Police Department is investigating a threat made via social media by a Columbus East high school student Tuesday.

Police say the message was sent to several students on Snapchat.

Police say the student was taken in to custody at Columbus East High School and later taken to Bartholomew County Youth Services.

The student faces a preliminary charge of intimidation.

Bartholomew Consolidated Schools issued the following statement:

The Columbus Police Department has been notified of a threat against East High School. The threat was made in a group post on Snapchat and was reported to school officials by students. The student responsible for making the threat has been identified and isolated. Law enforcement is involved. Threats and/or intimidation will not be tolerated by BCSC.
