Stretch of I-65 in Johnson County renamed 'Tuskegee Airmen Highway'

COLUMBUS, Ind. (WTHR) - Indiana is honoring the nation's first African-American aviators.

A stretch of I-65 between Seymour and Johnson County was renamed the Tuskegee Airmen Highway Friday.

The airmen faced racism both in the U.S. and while serving overseas in World War II.

They were all recognized with the congressional gold medal in 2007.
