BUNKER HILL, Ind. (WTHR) — Indiana State Police has opened a homicide investigation after prison staff at the Miami Correctional Facility found a 70-year-old inmate unresponsive in his cell.

Staff found Lannie Morgan of South Bend around 9:40 a.m. Monday. They called an ambulance to get him to a hospital, but he died on the way. Police suspect foul play and are treating his death as a homicide.

Morgan had been in prison since December of 2011. Court documents show he pleaded guilty to two counts of child molesting and one county of incest. He was sentenced to 30 years each for the molesting charges and 10 years for the incest charge. A judge ordered all sentences to be served concurrently.
